My First "Expert" Assignment

I was recently asked to join the panel of experts at Favor Ideas, to help answer questions from brides. Of course, I jumped at the chance. I love helping out, it drives my husband nuts. He will tell you for every bride who pays me, I do it for 10 for free, lol. Anyway, this was a great way to get my name out there as well so I jumped in.

I was rewarded my first question to answer today, from a young bride dealing with the conflict between her father and her step father. Like many many brides today, she has a much more complex family situation to consider as she plans her wedding and was having trouble deciding who should be walking her down the aisle! Wedding Gown Hem Lengths

Floor - A floor length wedding gown is pretty much exactly that. It reaches to the floor, and usually just the tips of yrou shoes will show. This is the most common length for a wedding gown.

Handkerchief Hem - This is similar to a Tea Length, but is made of panels, ending in points at the hem.

Intermission - This skirt is also called a Midi Length, and falls between the knee and mid calf area.

Mini - A mini skirt ends above the knee. Wedding gowns with a mini skirt often have removable overskirts as well.

Street - A street length wedding gown falls just below the knee, slightly shorter then an Intermission length.

Tea - A tea length wedding gown falls to about mid-calf, slightly longer then a Intermission. This length had been growing in popularity over recent years, especially for casual weddings! We posted an article earlier on tea length gowns, you can read it here.

There are so many different style choices for wedding dresses that it can become confusing trying to decide what is best for you! Just picking a train length brings you to a number of choices! Here is a over view of the most common terms and what they mean! Hopefully, this will help you determine what type of train is best for you.

Floor Length or No Train: Shown in our first photo, this is perfect for an informal wedding gown or a garden wedding gown, and can also be done for a semi-formal wedding gown if you wish.

Royal Train: I don't have a photo for this one, but if you dream is to have a Princess Di train, this is it! Also called a Monarch train, this train falls 9 ft from the waist line and is generally only used for the most formal wedding gowns.
